The Particulars of Being
by Michael David Roberts
Michael David Roberts is the Associate Dean of Instruction for the Humanities at Fresno City College, where he taught English for twelve years. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from CSU Fresno, Master's Degrees in English from CSU Fresno and Bilingual Education from Fresno Pacific University, and a BA in English from UC Davis. In 2001, he was named the Philip Levine Scholar in the MFA Program at CSU Fresno. His poems have been published in numerous literary journals throughout the United States.
“Michael Roberts' poems explore, even celebrate, the contradictory human desire to be at once grounded in this world and to transcend it. They vibrate with the elemental energies of wind and water and light, and though the people in these poems look often toward the sky, and though the dream of flight is a frequent companion, the poems themselves redirect us toward the things of this earth."
